To travel in comfort, it's essential to think carefully about your luggage accessories. Many questions can quickly arise. Is it better to opt for soft luggage, such as nets, side panniers... Or is it better to opt for hard luggage, such as top-cases? Do you prefer luggage attached to the bike or on you, like a motorcycle backpack? Here are a few tips to help you decide.

Soft luggage

The advantages of soft luggage are numerous:

  • Easy assembly - disassembly: soft luggage is generally easy to attach thanks to various types of fasteners adapted to your 2-wheeler.
  • smaller size: flexible materials can be quickly adapted to your needs
  • lower price: linked to the materials used. Often polyester or textile.
  • light weight: directly linked to the materials used.

Soft luggage includes: tank bags, saddle bags, panniers .. . Please note that soft luggage does not come with an anti-theft device.

Rigid luggage

The advantages of rigid luggage, for those who want secure storage:

  • Security: often equipped with locks, you can store your belongings and park in complete safety.
  • Watertightness: your belongings stay dry, whatever the weather
  • Sturdiness: thanks to the materials used, rigid luggage is robust (plastic, or aluminum for a more adventurous look).

Rigid luggage includes top cases and various types of suitcases. Rigid luggage is often heavier and more complex to install, requiring the purchase of a mounting bracket. It also takes up more space than soft luggage.
