What are motorcycle braking accessories?

The braking system on your two-wheeler is complex. In fact, it's made up of several components that can be modified to suit your needs and use: master cylinder, motorcycle brake pad, brake disc, hose, caliper, cables... Here are the main ones:

Brake pad

Your brake pads come into friction with the discs, clamping them to stop the wheels of your motorcycle.

Brake disc

The brake disc plays the key role: with the help of the brake pads and brake fluid, it immobilizes the wheel.

Brake caliper

Fixed or mobile, the caliper puts pressure on the brake pads to activate them around the disc.

Brake hoses

Carries brake fluid to the caliper.

Brake lever and master cylinder

This is your control for activating your motorcycle's braking system. This lever can be modified for better performance or simply for aesthetics. In fact, there's a more important element at the base of the lever. This is the master cylinder. This is what pushes the brake fluid into the hose and pushes the pistons in the brake caliper. On the track, the original element is often replaced by a higher-performance version to improve braking power and feel. At Ixtem Moto, you'll find master cylinders from leading brands and all the repair parts you need.

When and why change your braking system?

A high-performance motorcycle brake system is highly recommended to enhance your safety on every trip, whether short, medium or long.

For your own safety

If your motorcycle's braking system fails, you could have an accident. To ensure your safety, it's essential to regularly check your braking system.

When to change?

This depends on your driving habits and the distance you cover. Nervous driving with hard braking will wear out the braking system faster than leisurely driving. Brembo, CL BRakes, Nissin, SpeedBrakes, Tecnium or TourMax, the leading brands of motorcycle brake accessories are available from Ixtem Moto. Ask our team of experts for help if you have any doubts about compatibility with your motorcycle. We'll be delighted to guide you through your purchase.

Pro tip

The brake caliper is often neglected. It's important to clean it and check that it's working properly. A seized caliper will prematurely wear out your brake pads and discs. You should also change your brake fluid regularly. It loses its effectiveness over time. If it's dark, change it. In any case, we recommend replacing it at least every 2 years.
