When should you change your motorcycle tires?
It's essential to change your tires as soon as they're worn, otherwise you'll compromise your motorcycle's performance and the safety of yourself and other road users.
Regularly checking your motorcycle tires should become a reflex. Visually, you can observe
- the general condition of the tires
- tread depth. Structured motorcycle tires have a wear indicator that lets you know where you stand.
- Abnormal tire wear: more worn on one side than the other, blistering, cracking, etc.
- An object in the tire, such as a nail.
- And, of course, tire pressure, which should be checked once a month.
When should I change my tires?
- Damaged tire casing following a puncture
- When the tire reaches the wear limit, i.e. 1mm. The indicators(small bumps between the grooves in the structure) are there to help you.

What are the risks of driving on worn tires?
Riding on worn tires can seriously compromise your safety. Your motorcycle tire's grip on wet roads will be reduced. A smooth tire with no tread pattern won't evacuate water. That's why, on the track, we switch to treaded rain tires when the weather turns for the worse. You'll also have problems with front braking grip.
