Frequently asked questions
Here are the most frequently asked questions to help you choose your motorcycle equipment, helmet or accessory.
-
What is the real autonomy of stand-alone heated gloves?
Autonomy varies according to battery capacity. The higher a battery's mAh capacity, the greater its range. It's a bit like the size of your tank. The other factor that affects battery life is simply the heating level. At maximum power, the battery will drain more quickly. The cold outside will also affect battery capacity. A battery discharges faster when it's very cold.

How does it work?
3 possibilities:
- Wired heated motorcycle gloves run on your motorcycle battery. Simply unscrew the terminals on your battery and plug in the glove's power cable. You then pass the cable through properly, and plug in the Y cable that will power the gloves. Connecting your gloves by wire gives you more powerful heating than the stand-alone version, so you won't run out of juice. The 2 leading brands of wired gloves are Gerbing and Keis.
- Stand-alone heated gloves work with a battery that is slipped into the glove. There's a pocket in the glove to store the battery without it getting in the way. The battery is usually 7 volts, but some brands like Gerbing also offer 12 volts. Its autonomy varies according to its capacity in mAh. Autonomy for stand-alone gloves varies from 2h30 to 5 hours, depending on the battery, cold and heating level selected.
- Hybrid motorcycle heating gloves are also available. These work either with a stand-alone battery or by connecting them to the motorcycle's battery. These gloves offer greater versatility, depending on the distance you need to cover.
Good to know
Some brands, such as Gerbing, Keis or Macna, offer complete ecosystems. This means you can have an interconnected set of heated gloves, socks, under-jackets and pants to keep your whole body warm.
